Welcome to our profile!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. These pages can only open a small window into our lives. We hope what you learn here will be enough to demonstrate that the only piece missing from our family is a child to raise and love. We admire your bravery and fortitude; we support you and the difficult decision that you are contemplating. We made a deep connection the moment we met. We are husband and wife, but we are also best friends. We both love to laugh, talk and enjoy life. We are both caring and respectful individuals. Above all, we take comfort in knowing that we will stand by each other through thick and thin. |

About Us We live in a NYC neighborhood with our loving dog, GoGo. Our single family home has three bedrooms and a big, grassy yard with plenty of room for a swing set and sandbox. Our neighborhood is filled with children ranging from newborns to teenagers. We are situated between two schools, an award winning elementary school and one of the finest middle schools in NYC. On the grounds of the elementary school is a newly renovated playground with all new equipment and a soft rubber safety mat in case of falls! A large National Park is just a short walk from our house. It has numerous ball fields, soccer fields, a playground, a guarded beach and one of the largest little leagues in the city. |

Family & Friends Family and friends are very important to us. We both come from large families and enjoy getting together with them regularly. John has four nephews under the age of six with another one on the way. Two live across the street from us. Megan has three nieces and two nephews. Together we are godparents to four children. We enjoy watching these children grow up and playing an active role in their lives. Many years ago, Megan's family was touched by adoption when her niece Kerry was placed into the arms of her sister Karen, brother-in-law Steve and nephew Stephen. Kerry is looking forward to being a big cousin! |

GoGo GoGo was the first addition to our family in 2005. We rescued her from a New Jersey shelter. GoGo is a Bull Terrier, Yellow Lab mix. She has been to many dog training classes, and loves people! |

Megan Megan enjoys working for a residential interior design firm in New York City, but when the time comes, she will happily be a stay at home mom. She enjoys baking, traveling, admiring other people's gardens (until she finds her own green thumb) and playing backgammon. |

John John is a special education teacher in a NYC public school. He enjoys 13 weeks of paid vacation each year. Among John's many interests are cooking, reading, and quoting lines from the Simpson's. He is also an avid birder, often hopping in the car to check out a rare bird nearby (and some not so nearby). Life's made up of little things, no great sacrifice or duty, but smiles and many a cheerful word fill up our lives with beauty. The heartaches, as they come and go, are but blessings in disguises, for time will turn the pages over and show us great surprises. Mary R. Hartman |

We thank you for taking the time to learn about our life. If you decide adoption is the best plan for you and your child, we would love the opportunity to be parents. Your child will always know who you are and the selflessness you possess to make a plan for his or her future. Megan & John |
