About Us

Growing up in a small town, we have known each other for most of our lives. Our marriage is based on love, trust and respect for each other. We have discovered that if one of us has a weakness in some area, the other one of us finds a strength there. We work well independently of each other, but find our greatest strength when we are together. We feel that we have a solid foundation that helps us to be a good parenting team.

We find pleasure in activities that all of the seasons have to offer.

We try to get to our family camp often and enjoy hiking, picnics and swimming in the summer and skiing, sledding and ice skating in the winter. We also enjoy a little quiet time cuddling up with a good book or just sitting around the table talking about our day.

Peter

Peter is such a wonderful man and a fantastic father! There is something special about him that makes people want to be near him. He is very tender hearted and always willing to give people a chance. He is a hard worker and loves every minute of being a dairy farmer, but his family always comes first.

Watching Peter and Lucas together always brings a smile to my face and sometimes a tear to my eyes. They have a beautiful relationship and it is obvious that Lucas will be Daddy's little helper! The squeals of joy whenever Daddy comes through the door and the huge smile on Peter's face when he sees Lucas are the sights and sounds of love to me. Whether helping Lucas figure out how a toy works or just running around the yard, you can tell that there is nowhere else Peter would rather be.

The simple things in life bring him the most joy.

Jolene

Jolene is a very caring and giving person, with a great sense of humor. She has a priceless smile and a contagious giggle! Jolene is very compassionate and thoughtful and is an exceptional mother. This comes very naturally for her because children have always been a part of her life. She is patient, creative and committed to meeting all of Lucas' needs. Friends and family members often ask Jolene to care for their children which also provides Lucas with an opportunity to socialize in his own home, a place that is safe and comfortable for him.

Our decision for Jolene to stay at home with Lucas has been beneficial for all of us. Knowing how quickly children grow up, Jolene is cherishing this time watching Lucas grow and learn new things every day. It is not unusual to see Jolene in the middle of a pile of toys, having as much fun playing as Lucas is. Putting together puzzles, reading books and lots of outdoor time are a part of every day. A child placed in Jolene's arms will never be without hugs, kisses and cuddles!

Lucas

We were so blessed in March of 2008 when our son, Lucas joined our family through an open adoption. We have regular contact with his birth mother and it has been a very rewarding and positive experience for all of us. When we brought Lucas home, he weighed 4 pounds 8 ounces, but he quickly gained weight and has been such a healthy boy. He is the most precious gift!

He is very inquisitive and loves exploring the world around him. Lucas has the best laugh! Everyone loves to hear him laughing and it is so easy to get him giggling! If Lucas was writing this, he would probably tell you how much he loves running and how he gets excited when he sees anything with wheels on it, especially tractors, trucks and trains. He would probably also tell you how much he loves playing with his cousins and friends, reading books and being outdoors. Lucas loves animals and if there is one around he will always try to make it his friend. Lucas has the sweetest personality and is a very caring little boy.

He loves being around other children and will be an amazing brother!

Family

We are so fortunate to have big families that are so close to each other. We are also honored to have a wonderful group of friends that seem like family! We are able to spend time with our families and friends often, whether it's for a celebration, a barbeque or just to catch up on what's new. Lucas especially likes the get-togethers and showing everyone what he has learned since the last time they have seen him. Our family means the world to us and they are so excited that we will be adding another member to our family tree!

Home

Our home is located between the beautiful Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain, the best of both worlds and only a day trip away from major cities. We live on a quiet road not far from the center of town. We have great neighbors who are always willing to lend a helping hand if one is needed. You can often find a neighbor helping with shoveling or plowing after a big snowstorm or coming across the lawn to visit and see what Lucas is building in the sandbox. We feel very safe knowing that our neighbors are there to look out for us. Our community is very tight-knit and supportive of each other. We share our home with our affectionate pets, Misty and Simon. Though they are getting older in years, Lucas is keeping them young at heart!

Farm

Peter is a partner with his father on their dairy farm, which has been in his family for four generations and is family owned and operated. The heart of the farm are the dairy cows, which we raise from birth. Lucas is especially fond of the farm and loves to visit the cows and watch the tractors out in the field. Being on the farm helps to clear your head and be in touch with nature. We can't wait to share the exciting life of farming with another child!
